Visit Lucas Oil Speedway booth at OARF Hall of Fame, Reunion on Saturday

WHEATLAND, MO. (Jan. 27, 2025) - The arctic blast that has enveloped the Midwest aside, the 2026 racing season is growing closer by the day. To help fuel the fire, the biggest off-track gathering of the offseason for Ozarks-area racing fans is coming up Saturday, Jan. 31.

It’s the 38th annual Ozarks Area Racers Foundation Reunion and Hall of Fame ceremony, a chance to bring fans together and celebrate the past while looking ahead to the future. The event will be held at the Ozarks Empire Fairgrounds' West E-Plex in Springfield.

Lucas Oil Speedway will have a booth at the event, with free schedules and other items along with information about the upcoming season.

Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. with dozens of race cars (both modern day and vintage) plus memorabilia on display. An autograph session for the new Hall of Fame inductees is set for 3:30 p.m., along with a silent auction. The induction ceremony starts at 5 p.m. with area track champions from 2025 recognized during that part of the program.

The Hall of Fame inductees are selected in two categories - Legend (for driving accomplishments) and Pioneers (off-track contributions such as car owners, mechanics, sponsors or media members).

This year's Hall of Fame class in the Legend division includes Brian Brown of Lebanon, the late Terry Deatherage of Wichita, Kansas; Eric Turner of Hermitage who completed a three-decade career last season and five-time MLRA Late Model champion Alan Vaughn of Belton.

The Pioneer division features Russell Baker of Baker Racing Engines in Miami, Oklahoma; Donnie Kratzburg, founder of Southwest Speed in Fort Smith, Arkansas; the late Gene Morton of Springfield, who worked in various racing roles mostly behind the scenes and long-time racing photographer Melanie Wynn of Hartville.

Tickets are $15 in advance at participating area O'Reilly Auto Parts locations and $20 at the door. Kids 12-and-under are free.

The induction class brings to 249 members of the OARF Hall of Fame.

The Ozarks Area Racers Foundation is a not-for-profit group whose mission is to recognize the history of racing in the Ozarks and promote it for the future. For more information, find the Ozarks Area Racers Foundation's Facebook page.

The Lucas Oil Speedway season opens March 26-28 with the USMTS King of America following an Open Test and Tune March 21 from 6-10 p.m. for the dirt track and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. that day for the Off Road track.
