Lucas Oil Speedway ready for 15th annual Hockett-McMillin Memorial this week

WHEATLAND, MO. (Sept. 15, 2025) - One of the most highly anticipated events on the sprint-car calendar returns to Lucas Oil Speedway this week for three big nights of high-level action and hefty prize funds, all the while paying tribute to a pair of Missouri open-wheel legends.

The 15th annual Jesse Hockett-Daniel McMillin Memorial is set for Thursday through Saturday, as the POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprints and POWRi WAR Sprints converge on Lucas Oil Speedway.

The Hockett-McMillin Memorial recognizes the legacy of Jesse Hockett, from Warsaw, Mo., who was a star in both the winged and non-wing sprint divisions when he lost his life in a shop accident in 2010. His cousin and crew chief, Daniel McMillin, was killed in an automobile accident in 2006.

The POWRI 410 winged portion of the program will race for $5,000-to-win in preliminary features the first two nights before going after a big $10,000 prize in Saturday's finale. For the wingless cars of the POWRi WAR, features will pay $2,000 to win on the preliminary nights and $5,077 for the win on Saturday night.

Results from each of the preliminary nights, with drivers earning points for their performance, will help set the lineup for the final-night action on Saturday.

Defending champions are Scott Bogucki of McLaren Vale, South Austrailia, in the POWRi 410 Sprints and Xavier Doney of Odessa in the POWRi WAR Sprints. Ayrton Gennetten of Versailles leads the season championship chase by 170 points over Joe B. Miller of Millersville, Mo., with Doney 340 behind in third.

Hank Davis of Sand Springs, Okla., held off Doney in the last POWRi 410 event, Saturday at Callaway Raceway.

In the POWRi War series, Wyatt Burks of Topeka, Kan., is setting the pace by 120 points over Jack Wagner of Lone Jack, Mo. The triple header at Wheatland will conclude the non-winged series’ season.

Drivers can save time upon arrival at the track by signing the pit waiver online at https://lucasoilspeedway.speedwaiver.com/ukgfa. They also can preregister for the event online at myracepass.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. each day with hot laps at 6:30 and racing to follow.
