Whitetail Trophy Hunt to sponsor Super Stocks, pay $2,000 to win, Oct. 28 race at Lucas Oil Speedway

WHEATLAND, MO. (Oct. 13, 2023) - With the announcement on Friday that Lucas Oil Speedway is adding one more big race date, Whitetail Trophy Hunt will sponsor the POWRi Super Stocks portion of the Oct. 28 program.

The Whitetail Trophy Hunt Super Stocks feature winner will earn $2,000, courtesy of Craig Danuser with Whitetail Trophy Hunt.

The Super Stocks and Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modifieds are the support divisions for the season-ending Lucas Oil MLRA "Season Finale" that will pay the MLRA feature winner $10,000. The Modifieds feature will collect $1,000.

"I want to thank Craig Danuser with Whitetail Trophy Hunt for stepping up and supporting the Super Stocks and making this an even bigger event," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said. "Craig has been a big supporter of dirt track racing for many years and we appreciate what he does for the sport."

The Oct. 28 race was added to the Lucas Oil Speedway schedule after weather forced the MLRA Championship Weekend at Tri-City Speedway to be canceled.

It also will mark the final opportunity of 2023 for drivers to accumulate MLRA points toward the series championship, Sunoco Rookie of the Year, as well as the season-long contingency awards, some of which are still up for grabs.

This will be the first visit for the POWRi Super Stocks to Lucas Oil Speedway. POWRi Super Stock rules will be used.

Whitetail Trophy Hunt marks its 35th anniversary in 2023, held at the Lake of the Ozarks Nov. 11-13. This tremendously popular hunt brings in participants from all over the United States and abroad. Entries are received on a first come, first served basis and limited to a maximum of 220 hunters.

Missouri holds the world record for non-typical whitetail deer racks and the results from each year's hunt reflects the kind of trophy deer that makes this region of the country famous. Superior deer hunting is not the only thing the Whitetail Trophy Hunt is noted for. Many hunters bring their families along to enjoy the beautiful lake area scenery, unique shops, crafts and outlet malls.

Over $4 million in cash and prizes has been awarded over the years to many fortunate whitetail hunters. Plus, the five-year Show-Me Showdown is in its fourth year for the 2023 hunt. This promotion will provide an additional cash bonus prize fund that can go up to $55,000. That makes the 2023 hunt important in working toward the bonus.

For more information and details on the Whitetail Trophy Hunt and how to enter for 2024, visit Whitetail.net or email Craig Danuser at craig@whitetail.net.

For the racing on Oct. 28, Lorton said both support classes will use time trials for heat-race starting positions just like the MLRA Late Models will do.

Pit gates will open at 3 p.m. with grandstands at 4, hot laps at 5:30 and racing at 6:05.
