Lucas Oil Speedway's annual "Most Popular Driver" Award voting opens

WHEATLAND, MO. (Sept. 7, 2022) - It's that time of the year again when fans can let their votes be counted by helped to select Lucas Oil Speedway's "Most Popular Driver" Award.

Online voting for the award is underway and will conclude on Oct. 14. Fans can cast their vote at cast their vote at lucasoilspeedway.com/vote with the top 10 drivers in season points in the Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modifieds, Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods, Hermitage Lumber Late Models and O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars listed on the ballot.

One vote per email address is permitted. Fans also can submit a write-in vote if they choose.

Winner of the award will be announced at Lucas Oil Speedway's Postseason Awards banquet, later this fall. Details on the banquet will be announced in upcoming weeks.

Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modified track champion Dillon McCowan of Urbana was named Most Popular Driver in 2021.

In other news, USRA Modified driver Jimmy Dowell was the winner of the recent drivers' ticket giveaway with 49 of his 50 available tickets redeemed on Rempfer Memorial Season Championship Night. Dowell wins a season pit pass for a crew member for the 2023 season.

Open-Wheel Hockett-McMillin Memorial next: Lucas Oil Speedway will remain silent this weekend, but one of open-wheel sprint-car racing's biggest weekends is next up.

The 12th annual Jesse Hockett-Daniel McMillin Memorial, featuring the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series and the POWRi WAR Sprint League, return to Lucas Oil Speedway for three full nights of action Sept. 15-17.

The event recognizes the legacy of Jesse Hockett, from Warsaw, Missouri, who was a star in both the winged and non-wing sprint divisions when he lost his life in a shop accident in 2010. His cousin and crew chief, Daniel McMillin, was killed in an automobile accident in 2006.

ASCS feature winners will earn $3,000 each of the first two nights and $10,000 on the final night. POWRi WAR Sprint League feature winners will collect $2,000 on the preliminary nights and $4,077 for the finale.
