Lucas Oil Speedway hosts USA Pro-Am Motocross

By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- Premier riders from all over the country converge on Lucas Oil Speedway this weekend for the inaugural Lucas Oil Speedway USA Pro-Am Motocross event on the Off Road track.

At least 400 entries in about 40 classes of both pro and amateur divisions will be racing motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs, starting with a Friday practice day. Full day-time programs are set for Saturday and Sunday.

"We're excited to play host to the first USA Pro-Am Motocross and bring another form of racing to the Lucas Oil Speedway motorsports complex," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. "We think it's going to be an outstanding weekend for both the riders and the fans at our Off Road track and can't wait to see everyone."

Jay Reynolds of Motorhead Events said the sparkling new Off Road track and the amenities that Lucas Oil Speedway offers makes this a one-of-a-kind weekend for the competitors and spectators.

"The big thing about it is the facility," Reynolds said of Lucas Oil Speedway. "It being an AMA Pro-Am, all the up-and-coming pros can come and get points to go race Supercross and the AMA Nationals. This will draw a lot of really fast riders from all over the nation."

Pro riders will compete for $4,000 in purse money. Saturday at 4 p.m. will feature a pro program with all-star classes.

A full UTV and ATV race program will take place Sunday at noon and will provide huge action with the ATVs on the Motocross Track and the UTVs on the Off Road Truck track. Reynolds added that the UTVs will race on the existing off-road track layout "which will be a real neat thing for the spectators to watch."

Riders and fans will enjoy amenities that include live timing and scoring, full RV hookups, car and bike wash, 10 acres of shaded camping, basketball court, bounce house, fishing ponds, swimming lakes, full shower houses, propane and camping log sales and covered grandstands.

The outdoor national style Pro-Am event is sanctioned by the AMA and promoted by the Nitro Arenacross Tour LLC. Go to http://www.motorheadevents.com or call (417) 863-6353 for classes, race info and schedule.
