Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (Sept. 24, 2014) – Brandon Hanks is pleased with his results last weekend during the Midwest Fall Brawl at I-80 Speedway.

Hanks finished just outside the top 10 both nights during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader and he improved each time he hit the high-banked track.

“My goal is always top 10 and make the A Main,” he said. “When I was walking through the pits I was just hoping to make the show. The baddest of the bad were there. Almost all the top 360 drivers were racing there.”

The weekend started on Friday with Hanks winning his heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. That locked him into the feature redraw. Hanks lined up on the inside of the second row for the main event after pulling the No. 3 in the random draw.

“We kind of had a hard time getting our hands around the setup,” he said. “We were pretty tight in the feature. I had never been there before. That was a tough place for me to get my head wrapped around, but it was fun. I learned a lot and got a lot better as the weekend went along.”

Hanks spent most of the race competing for a top 10 before he finished 11th.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday with Hanks opening the finale by charging from eighth to fourth place in a heat race.

“The heat race is just as important as the feature,” he said. “It’s hard to pass and the best time to pass is right on the start. Once we got strung out after two laps there was no catching the leaders.”

His result was good enough to lock Hanks into the main event, which he started 13th.

“We were a little too tight again,” he said. “I got a little bit better. It was a solid weekend. I wanted a top 10, but I’m still happy with the weekend.”

Hanks capped the weekend with a 12th-place result.

He is scheduled to compete this Friday and Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., for the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“It’s my favorite race of the year,” he said. “Lucas Oil Speedway is pretty much my favorite race track. They don’t call it the Diamond of the Dirt Tracks for no reason.”
