Inside Line Promotions – WHEATLAND, Mo. (Oct. 2, 2014) – Brandon Hanks has already put last weekend behind him.

Hanks endured arguably the most frustrating weekend of his season during the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“Friday was a very, very long day,” he said. “Our toterhome broke down so we got there late. We barely showed up in time for hot laps. We had to get the truck towed and somebody came and picked us up from Springfield, Mo. I rode in the trailer and was putting on my suit on the way. When we got to the race track we brought the car out, threw a tire on it and they were calling us out for hot laps.”

Hanks then advanced from sixth to fifth place in his heat race, which relegated him to a B Main.

“We were so tight,” he said. “We went off into turn one of the heat race and I was third. When we got to the center of the corner I was eighth. The car bicycled on me. It got so tight so quick it stood up on the right wheels. I about turned it over. I had to overdrive the car just to get it to turn. I couldn’t let off the throttle any. If I did the nose of the car would stand up and go straight to the wall.”

Hanks finished seventh in the B Main to miss a transfer.

He also fought tight conditions throughout Saturday’s event, which he ended fourth in a heat race and fourth in a B Main.

“All weekend we were tight, tight, tight,” he said. “The car was so bound up. We tried to adjust where we could. The generator on the trailer didn’t work. We didn’t have air or electricity the whole weekend. I think we would have done better if we had our regular equipment. The only two things that didn’t go wrong was my motor didn’t blow and we didn’t wreck.”

Hanks said he hopes his team will have the toterhome back in time for the next race, which will be Oct. 17-18 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the 41st annual Winter Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
