LUCAS OIL SPEEDWAY AUGUST 22, 2009
To begin with, a quick word about the track Saturday night, EXCELLENT. The Lucas Oil Speedway track staff gave us an absolutely perfect racetrack to go racing. Between that and having most of the best racers in the Midwest on hand (in every class) the fans got an awesome show.
TRANSPORT GRAPHICS FACTORY STOCK
Out of the gates first were the Transport Graphics Factory Stocks in one of the best races they have had all season, and that is saying a lot. Current points leader Kenny Carroll put a couple more points between he and last years class champ James Flood. However with Flood coming home in third Saturday night he kept the points race tight. Burl Woods finished between them after starting 12th and all three made the familiar trip up the Winner’s Circle.
Ben Solberg came home 4th and Randy Gilmore from Warsaw rounded out the top 5. Gilmore started on the outside of row two and ran in the top three for most of the feature. Afterwards he said he was really hoping for a top three so he could make the trip up the hill. Thanks Randy, I really like that term of endearment for the Lucas Oil Speedway Winner’s Circle.
Keith Webster came home 6th, followed by Allen Thompson, Damon Tillman, Chris Darnell and Chris Tonoli taking us through the top 10. Incidently, Tonoli and the retro rocket Chevelle looked very strong in his heat but suffered brake problems. Not picking any favorites but it would be cool to see a 1964 Chevelle “make a trip up the hill” before the end of season.

PITT’S HOMES “A” MODIFIED
If you want to know the truth, it nearly looked as much like an “A” Mod special as a Late Model Race with 35 of area’s best shoes also in the house Saturday night. Martin, Merritt, Dukes, Ragland, Bodenhammer, Fennewald, Jackson, Beckham, Turner, Clark, Cutshaw, Nations, Pursley, Taylor…I really shouldn’t have started naming names because I simply don’t know where to end.
Speaking of the end however, it was Rusty Dukes from the racing metropolis of Fair Grove coming home with the win. Dukes held off crowd favorite Eric Turner who came from a 14th place start. Turner nearly got by Dukes with two laps to go and might have made it stick but for a yellow flag. After that Dukes was able to hold on and Johnny Fennewald joined the two in the Winner’s Circle.
Tim Setzer and Justin Folk rounded out the top five respectively. Followed by (here I go dropping names again) Ragland, Cutshaw, Merritt, Kris Jackson and Terry Beckem taking us through the top 10.

O’REILLY MLRA PRESENTED BY LUCAS OIL PRODUCTS
(from Dan Robinson) Billy Moyer lived up to his "Mr. Smooth" nickname by methodically working his way from his 14th starting position to capture the $3,000 O'Reilly MLRA win at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday night. John Anderson put up a valiant battle late in the race but had to settle for second at the finish. Oxford, Iowa's Dave Eckrich had a strong run to take the third spot. Brad Looney returned to MLRA action by finishing in fourth while Springfield, Missouri's Terry Phillips came home in fifth. Hermitage, Missouri's Eric Turner and current MARS Series point leader finished in sixth with Quincy, Illinois' Rickey Frankel in seventh. Denny Woodworth slid back to eighth at the finish with New Richmond, Wisconsin's Pat Doar ninth and Rookie Rylan Long in tenth.
Denny Woodworth led the field to the green flag from the Pole but the caution flag flew for a spin by Jeremy Payne in Turn 1. As the field was reset, it was Dave Eckrich charging to the lead. Eckrich continued to lead with Woodworth and Looney in tow. Moyer worked his way to the third spot by lap nine as Eckrich continued to lead. The caution flag flew for the second and final time on Lap #5 as David Turner made heavy contact with the turn 3 wall. As Eckrich began dealing with lap traffic at the halfway point, Moyer and Anderson followed slicing and dicing their way through the field on an absolutely perfect racetrack. Anderson overtook Eckrich on Lap 34 and appeared to have the car to win but Moyer was patiently stalking as he looked for an opening. The opening came with two laps to go as Moyer shot by Anderson to take the lead and the win with Anderson finishing in second and Eckrich in third.
Moyer's Victory Circle Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine with sponsorship support from Banner Valley Hauling, J & J Steel, Karl Chevrolet, Minx Show Palace, and Car City. The Feature was worth $3,000 to win. Moyer is a Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee and is a 4-Time Winner of the prestigious World 100. The Race was slowed by only two cautions. MLRA Provisionals were awarded to Joe Kosiski & Chris Smyser. With John Anderson's second place finish and Al Purkey's 15th place finish, Anderson has now assumed the MLRA point lead heading into the home stretch of the season. Complete MLRA Points standings will be updated and posted at http://www.MLRAracing.com.
