TRANSPORT GRAPHICS FACTORY STOCK SEASON OPENER
The Lucas Oil Speedway kicked off the 2009 Count Down to the Crown, weekly racing series Saturday night with the Transport Graphics Factory Stocks. James Flood picked up right where he left off last season taking the inaugural class win.
Flood, the 2008 Factory Stock Champion at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks capitalized on a late race incident that took out front runner Derek Brown and left the number 30 car of Chris Darnell hobbled. Brown and Darnell had battled for the lead from the drop of green but contact between the two left brown with a cut tire and Darnell with front suspension problems.
With a handful of laps remaining, Flood was able to get by the Transport Graphics Factory stock for the win and brought the field with him. Joining Flood in the Lucas Oil Speedway Winner’s Circle was Kenny Carol in the 94 car and Burl Woods in the 26th.
A trio of hard chargers filled in the next three spots from the back of the pack. Fourth place finisher Paul Cates in the 07c started 23rd, Keith Webster, last year’s class champ took fifth place after starting 16th and Ken Hicks finished 6th from a 20th place start.
Randy Gilmore, Allen Thompson, Chip Shaddox and Chad Eckhoff rounded out the top 10. The Transport Graphic Factory Stocks are back in action next Saturday May 2, 2009. For more information log on to LucasOilSpeedway.com
