(WHEATLAND, MISSOURI) May 31, 2012 - On the heels of the 20th Annual DART Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway, a weekend off gives everyone a chance to reboot in preparation for the Inaugural John Haas Memorial Drag Boat Classic. The three-day Drag Boat event is set to kick off next Friday, June 8th with a Test & Tune Practice Session presented by Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr. Pepper Bottlers. Saturday is Qualifying on Lake Lucas plus a full slate of Lucas Oil Weekly Championship Racing on the Diamond of Dirt Tracks, Saturday Night. Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series Final Eliminations will take place on Sunday, June 10th.The Inaugural Lucas Oil John Haas Memorial Drag Boat Classic honors 4-Time Top Fuel Hydro World Champion John Haas who tragically lost his life in a practice crash in 2010.
In 2011 Lake Lucas welcomed the first ever Drag Boat Racing event, Daryl Ehrlich piloting the Top Fuel Hydro aptly named "Problem Child" broke the Nationa ET (elapsed time) record with a 3.48 second run in 1000 feet. Don't miss these spectacular Top Fuel Hydro boats traveling in speeds in excess of 250 MPH! Look for Ehrlich to rival other top competitors in the sport to challenge 2011 records. The 2012 Schedule at Lake Lucas includes two Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series events, The John Haas Memorial Drag Boat Classic, next weekend, June 8th-10th and the 2nd Annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals August 31st-September 2nd. Both events will be recorded for re-broadcast on major networks including, CBS, SPEED and MAVTV.
Spectator Gates will open at 8 AM on Friday morning. The Coca-Cola Test & Tune Session will run from 10 AM - 4 PM. General Admission is just $10, kids age 5 and under are FREE. Present Specially Marked Ozarks Coca-Cola 20oz Bottles at the Gate and receive FREE admission to Friday's event. Following the Test & Tune Session on Friday night, June 8th, Nashville Recording Artist, Jason Sturgeon will perform live on the Midway Stage. Jason will perform from 6-9 PM. A special BBQ dinner will be served to all guests with a Boat Pit Pass, dinner is just $10 for all others.
Saturday, June 9th, the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series will fire off rounds of Qualifying beginning at 9 AM. Spectator Gates will open at 7 AM Saturday morning. Sportsman Qualifying will begin at 9 AM followed by two sessions of Pro Qualifying. Saturday's admission is $25 for Adults, $20 for Seniors age 62 & up, $10 for Youth age 6-15, kids age 5 and under are FREE. Saturday's admission to the Drag Boat event also includes FREE Admission to the Diamond of Dirt Tracks Saturday Night. 93.5 FM, the Top Rock Music Station at Lake of the Ozarks Presents the Lucas Oil Speedway Weekly Championship Series featuring the ALPS Food Stores Late Models, the Pitts Homes A-Modifieds, the Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks, and the DJ's RV Sales B-Mods. The Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks will take center stage on the evening with a Special 25 Lap, $500 to win Main Event courtesy of TNT Quick Shop. 93.5FM will be broadcasting live from 4-6pm. Guests arriving after 5 PM for only the dirt track event will only have to pay regular weekly ticket prices, $12 for Adults, $8 for Seniors, $5 for Youth age 6-15.
Sunday, June 10th the baddest, fastest most extreme boats in the country will line up for final Eliminations. Gates open at 7 AM with first round eliminations at 9 AM. General Admission Tickets are $25 for Adults, $20 for Seniors age 62 & up, $10 for Youth age 6-15, kids age 5 and under are FREE.
This can't miss event has something for everyone! The Show-Me Beach at Lake Lucas will be open for swimming all day throughout the weekend with volleyball, horseshoes, tether ball and more. Vendors on the Lake Lucas Midway will have delicious food and beverages. Drag Boat Racing, Swimming, FREE Concert, Bounce Houses, Dirt Track Racing, you name it, all in one spot next weekend!
