In looking at the end of season schedule changes recently put in place, I believe I have made a mistake moving the class Championships to September 19th. While it was going to assist us making up a weekly race I believe running it that weekend is going to be a negative for all parties involved.
To begin with, we have two of our largest events this season both squeezed into the month of September and just a week apart. In retrospect, I believe dropping a weekly race in between them will adversely affect all three events.
Not to mention it puts extra strain on our track preparation team whom will have to recover the facility after changing it for the truck and tractor pulls the week before. Don’t get me wrong, they are more then capable of doing it but you simply never know what Mother Nature might have in store for us.
With all of that being said, I feel it is best for all concerned to return to the original schedule of ending the regular weekly season on September 5th.
However, I would like to invite the Transport Graphics Factory Stocks to join the Pitt’s Home “A” Mods for one final race during the Lucas Oil ASCS event on September 26th. This will be one of the biggest crowds of the year and should be a lot of fun to close out the 2009 Season.
By adding Factory Stocks to both the MLRA Races this season and the ASCS event, I believe the only class really affected by this decision will be the Slick Mist Late Models. For that, I am very sorry but it is simply the right decision to make for the track, the fans and the events.
The Factory Stock special will remain in place on the night of September 5th however points will not be given to any Factory Stocks not in the top 15. The points will not affect that night's finish or payout per car but will insure the points race is decided by the cars in the chase. I will explain this further during the driver’s meeting this Saturday.
Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience resending the schedule change decision may cause.
